On this day (9th February) back in 2004, legendary New York indie rockers The Strokes released ‘Reptilia’ as a single.
The single, was the second to be taken from the band’s second album ‘Room On Fire’. ‘Reptilia’ peaked at #17 in the UK Singles chart but despite that, the tune always ranks high in people’s favourite indie classics.
The Strokes were the driving force in the early ’00s in helping to kick off a new indie scene with the likes of Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, The Libertines, The White Stripes and even being one of the biggest influences on Arctic Monkeys.
Today, I will be making ‘Reptilia’ live on the Jonathan Ross Show my #TuneOfTheDay.
You can catch The Strokes in London this summer when they headline the Saturday at All Points East Festival which takes place in Victoria Park.
