On This Day: In 1996 The Prodigy Released ‘Firestarter’ Single
~ #TuneOfTheDay ~
On this day in 1996 (23 Years Ago), The Prodigy unleashed Keith Flint by releasing ‘Firestarter’ as a single.
In 1990, Keith Flint was so impressed with future bandmate Liam Howlett’s mixtape that he convinced Howlett to let him dance on stage while he performed them. The Prodigy line up would be completed with keyboard player Leeroy Thornhill and vocalist Maxim.
Flint carried on as the band’s dancer until 1996, when Howlett wanted some punky vocals on the album ‘The Fat Of The Land’ album, Keith Flint stepped up to the role perfectly and became the joint frontman. Flint laid vocals on the legendary track ‘Firestarter’ which went on to be #1 in the UK Singles Chart and also went on to become a platinum-selling singe with over 800,000 copies sold.
At the bottom of this post is a behind the scenes video of ‘Firestarter’.
Unfortunately, Keith Flint took his own life earlier this month and he leaves a massive void behind.
Here is some information for anybody struggling themselves.
