Single Review: Good Health Good Wealth – The Cafe

The Cafe

Forget your trendy, overpriced brunch spots, Good Health Good Wealth take us somewhere far more authentic. ‘The Cafe‘ immerses listeners in a timeless, old-school eatery, the kind of place where the regulars have been coming since forever, where the sound of sizzling sausages and clinking cutlery forms the backdrop to a breakup that refuses to find closure.

Frontman Bruce Breakey delivers his signature spoken-word drawl before emotion takes over, shifting into a soulful, impassioned flow. Meanwhile, producer Simon Kuzmickas crafts a soundscape that’s both minimal and expansive, pairing sparse beats with mournful slide guitar before building to a redemptive, psychedelic-rock finale.

A breakup only really works if you cut it off completely,” Bruce explains.

Meeting up at your favorite café might feel familiar or exciting, but someone has to rip off the plaster eventually.

That tension, the push and pull of unfinished endings gives ‘The Cafe‘ its emotional weight.

Alongside ‘Full Circle‘, the track previews the duo’s upcoming EP, a collection of observational city snapshots underpinned by a diverse sonic palette. Drawing on influences like Ian Dury, The Streets, and Madness, they blend classic British storytelling with contemporary and ‘90s-inflected electronica, making music that feels both nostalgic and forward-thinking.

Bruce, a lifelong East Londoner, and Simon, who grew up in Lithuania absorbing British culture from afar, were always destined to meet, where else? In a pub. Their partnership distills the quirks, wit, and melancholic humor of urban life into something distinctly modern. ‘The Cafe‘ is a compelling, atmospheric glimpse into their world, and if this is just a taste of what’s to come, their EP is one to watch.
