Single Review: Headwired – Head In The Clouds
HEAD IN THE CLOUDS
Headwired are fast becoming one of the Black Country’s most convincing new guitar bands, blending Britpop bravado with widescreen atmosphere but with a modern bite.
There’s a familiar lineage running through their sound, echoes of Oasis’ anthemic strut, The Verve’s hazy groove and the clipped confidence of Arctic Monkeys but Headwired wear it with purpose, not nostalgia.
‘Head In The Clouds‘ feels like a real moment for the four-piece, produced by Ben Harper at Liverpool’s Motor Museum Studios, the track captures that universal itch to escape the grind of modern working life, pairing reflection with uplift in a way that feels instantly relatable. Melodies soar, guitars shimmer with intent and there’s a quiet confidence in how the song builds, it never forces the euphoria, it just lets it land.
Their rise hasn’t come out of nowhere either, with over 100,000 Spotify streams already clocked and two sold-out hometown headline shows under their belt, Headwired are proving their connection with audiences is genuine and hard-earned. There’s grit in their charm, ambition in their songwriting and a dream-soaked quality that lingers long after the final chorus fades.
This is Headwired stepping into their stride, sounding both timeless and right on time, it very much feels like the start of something bigger.
