Courteeners score highest chart position to date

#2 •

Manchester band Courteeners have hit their highest ever UK album chart position.

Courteeners released their sixth studio ‘More.Again. Forever.’ last Friday and Eminem also released his album ‘Music to be Murdered By’ on the same date without any prior warning.

‘More. Again. Forever.’ hitting number 2 is the highest chart position achieved by Courteeners, their previous highest was ‘Concrete Love’ back in 2014.

The tight fight saw Courteeners leading the midweek chart by only 2,000. Courteeners have done their promotion the old fashioned way with TV appearances, interviews and radio sessions, whereas Eminem has relied more on word of mouth and controversy. Eminem released a video for ‘Darkness’ with him portraying the role of the Las Vegas shooter, the video is an hard watch but at the same time is very intriguing and Eminem has made it more about anti-gun crime rather than promoting it.

Courteeners frontman Liam Fray declared Eminem had “Crossed a line.” With his Manchester Arena terror attack reference in the track ‘Unaccommodating’. Eminem spits, “I’m contemplating yelling ‘bombs away’ on the game/Like I’m outside of an Ariana Grande concert waiting,” followed by the sound of an explosion.

Liam Fray who is from Middleton in Greater Manchester said,
It all just felt like an old comedian who can’t get on the telly any more just saying something outrageous.

Courteeners were part of the benefit concert which re-opened the arena after the terrible attack, a gig that also included Noel Gallagher, Blossoms, Peter Kay and Rick Astley.
