New Order unveil official ‘Be A Rebel’ video

Be A Rebel

New Order have unveiled the official video for their first new single in five years titled ‘Be A Rebel’.

The new single is the first new music that they have released since their 2015 album ‘Music Complete‘, which was also the first album not to feature founding member Peter Hook and instead saw Tom Chapman take over on bass duties.

‘Be A Rebel’ is a catchy, synth-driven tune which again sounds fresh from the band who have now amazingly been on the go for 39 years as the outfit New Order.

The track was originally planned as a release ahead of New Order’s tour this autumn, but with live shows on hold and their dates re-scheduled to 2021, the band felt it important to share new music with fans.

The band told NME Magazine the following about the tune,

In tough times we wanted to reach out with a new song,” said frontman Bernard Sumner.

We can’t play live for a while, but music is still something we can all share together. We hope you enjoy it…until we meet again.

drummer Stephen Morris said:

It’s kind of carrying on from ‘Music Complete’. It’s a very dance song.

He continued:

It’s been a bit strange making a record via remote control, with the song getting batted about backwards and forwards, but hopefully it’s turned out alright!

It’s just a one-off at the minute. We thought we’d start with one and then see how it goes.

‘Be A Rebel’ is released digitally today and will also get a 12″, CD and a digital bundle release with exclusive remixes available soon.
