Stoke band Shader release their cover of ‘Don’t You (Forget About Me)’, an isolation cover to support the campaign #SaveOurVenues for the Music Venue Trust which supports live music and event staff that have unfortunately found themselves out of work since March.

2020 saw the 35th anniversary of the Simple Minds #1 release. The band have done the song justice with an added Shader spark ignited into the tune.

Stu Whitson of Shader said of the decision to remake the single,

After recording it during the first Covid isolation we posted it on social media and got a great response.. The band weren’t keen on releasing a cover but with gentle persuasion from their managment 42s Records it was suggested that it would fit perfectly with the rasing awareness of the campaign that has seen an army of people out of work. Anyone in support of music, bands and gigs should see how critical it is to not lose venues, which many provide a starting point for fresh new bands as well as the skilled professionals that allow the gigs to happen.

The new tune is digitally released with all proceeds going to Music Venue Trust and the We Make Events campaign.

The band made the following statement on social media,

The title is so fitting we decided to release this to support two campaigns we ‘DON’T’ want people to ‘FORGET’, as they are close to our hearts. The We Make Events Campaign #WeMakeEvents, which is supporting gig and events crew unable to work with live music locked down, and Music Venue Trust #SaveThe30 campaign, focusing on 30 grassroots UK music venues on the #SaveOurVenues Critical List as they haven’t received any government grants.
