Runaway

Shader release their single ‘Runaway’ Today and it’s an exciting time for this band that are continuing to deliver hit after hit.

Their last CD single ‘Time is Right‘ hit number 2 in the UK physical charts in July 2020. Shader also did their part in helping raise awareness for #SaveOurVenues and #WeMakeEvents by releasing a cover of the classic Simple Minds track ‘Don’t You (Forget About Me)

‘Runaway’ is powerful from the offset with energy seeping throughout the track, speaking about anxiety and the need to escape from real life.

Stu Whiston speaks of the track,

Its about the anxiety of real life. The real vs fake, the upsurge of  talentless tv celeb culture, becoming a legitimate career move and the overwhelming desire to Runaway to somewhere with some soul.

Whiston wrote the track whilst working in a place many have extreme nostalgia for Blockbuster Video, Whiston said he become obsessed with 80’s post-punk band The Sound and without doubt you can clearly hear the influence of the 80s in the chorus to ‘Runaway’.

The guitar intro is definitely a nod towards The Sound but Shader pull it back into the modern-day sound by the clever use of lyrics of today’s issues that we face, it’s almost as if the song wants to transport you back to an era when none of the issues Whiston described existed.

Shader will set out on a UK tour this August 2021 and are also planning an album… Watch this space.
