ROLLA release new video for ‘Beautiful Lie’
We Owe You Nothing
Manchester’s ROLLA have built a reputation on massive anthems, heavy-hitting riffs, and towering hooks, with tracks like ‘Ease My Mind’, ‘Sweet Lullaby’, and ‘No Violence’ cementing their status. Now, they’re back with their second EP, ‘We Owe You Nothing’, showcasing not just their power but their evolving sound. The EP features the brand-new single, ‘Beautiful Lie’.
From the opening acoustic guitars, it’s clear ‘Beautiful Lie’ comes from a different side of ROLLA’s sonic palette. Fans might be surprised by the shift, but the band delivers in a big way. James Gilmore’s vocals cut deep, full of raw emotion as he lays bare feelings of loneliness and a search for direction. But as the song builds, its soaring hook turns pain into something triumphant. Those comparisons to The Verve’s timeless ballads? They’ve never felt more fitting.
James explains,
“This is probably the most professional and mature song we’ve ever written. Everything about it—the structure, the melodies, the weight of the lyrics—feels intentional. It’s got that anthemic, hands-in-the-air energy made for festival crowds. It’s not just background music; it takes over the space it’s in. It’s a huge contrast to the heavier tracks on the EP, but in its own way, it’s just as powerful. It was made for big moments, big stages, and big crowds.”
Before todays release, fans had already had a taste of ‘We Owe You Nothing’, with the thunderous, psych-tinged intensity of the title track and the recent single ‘It Ain’t Easy’. The EP also includes ‘The Slide’, which premiered on John Kennedy’s Radio X show. It’s the band’s first release under Run On Records, following 2023’s ‘Nothing Less Than Everything’, which went straight to #1 on the iTunes Album and Alternative Charts.

With Luke McConnell (guitar), Tom Paddon (guitar), and Luke Gilmore (bass), ROLLA recently announced the mutual departure of drummer and close friend Saul Bardsley. Stepping back in is Ryan Hunt, the band’s original drummer, who’s now fully committed to the journey ahead.
With the release of ‘We Owe You Nothing’, ROLLA prove once again that they’re a force to be reckoned with—whether they’re delivering heavy-hitting anthems or heart-stirring ballads.
ROLLA have built a strong live reputation, delivering standout performances at arenas with Kasabian, major festivals like Truck and Neighbourhood Weekender, and last year’s packed fundraiser at the iconic Salford Lads’ Club.
Now, their biggest headline show yet at Manchester’s New Century Hall on May 3rd is selling fast.
