Shed Seven are the “T-t-t-talk of the Town” after bagging their first ever #1 album with the incredible ‘A Matter of Time‘. The band seemed even more proud of the fact that they are the first band from York to hit the peak of the Official UK Album Charts.

During midweek, vocalist Rick Witter said,

Can you believe that after 30 years in the business, this album will be our highest charting entry?

With four Top 10 albums already under their belt, the York-formed indie five-piece, comprising Rick Witter, Paul Banks, Tom Gladwin, Tim Wills and Rob Maxfield, hope to score their first-ever chart-topping LP with the release. Previously Shed Seven, who celebrate their 30th anniversary this year, enjoyed success with 1994’s Change Giver #16, 1996’s A Maximum High #8, 1998 record Let It Ride #9, 1999 hits compilation Going for Gold #7, 2001’s Truth Be Told #42, 2017’s Instant Pleasures #8 and 2020 album Another Night, Another Town (Live) #31.

A Matter of Time‘ features guest spots from The Libertines frontman Peter Doherty on ‘Throwaways‘, Rowetta from Happy Mondays on ‘In Ecstasy‘ and Laura McClure for Reverend and the Makers on ‘Tripping with You‘.
