Antony Szmierek continues to cement his place as one of Manchester’s most captivating emerging talents with the release of his latest single, ‘Angie’s Wedding‘.

Angie’s Wedding‘ blends Szmierek’s lyrical brilliance and magnetic delivery with Haçienda-inspired synths and mid-tempo breakbeats. The result is a euphoric tribute to a fictional wedding party, where the album’s cast of characters comes together in celebratory harmony. It captures the essence of personal storytelling. Szmierek’s vocal delivery is both emotive and engaging, drawing listeners into the narrative of the song.

Reflecting on the song, Szmierek shares:

The album was always going to end at a wedding or a wake, and I went with the most positive option. Inspired by motorway graffiti, it takes us to a place where ‘the doers and the dreamers’ of the world live forever.

Capturing this raw sentiment, the track was recorded in one continuous take, imperfections and all, giving it an authentic, lived-in feel.

The accompanying music video, directed by long-time collaborator Zak Watson, adds another layer of charm, as Szmierek joyfully immerses himself in the imagined wedding celebration. The visuals perfectly complement the infectious melodies and driving rhythms that make ‘Angie’s Wedding‘ a standout track.

This release follows a whirlwind summer for Szmierek, which saw him perform at iconic festivals such as Glastonbury, where his set was praised by The Guardian and named a highlight by NME, as well as Latitude, Truck, and Boardmasters. Fresh off a European tour supporting Faithless, Szmierek is set to hit the road again next year for his own headline tour, alongside a series of intimate in-store performances leading up to the album’s release. With ‘Angie’s Wedding‘, Szmierek proves that he’s not just a storyteller but also a master of creating music that resonates deeply, blending heart, melody, and dancefloor energy into an irresistible package.
