The Utopiates return with ‘Neighbourhood’ single
Neighbourhood
The Utopiates have returned with their first new music of 2024 with the strutting ‘Neighbourhood‘.
The band have been working on their follow up album to 2023’s ‘The Sun Always Rises‘. The new tunes have been recorded and mixed at The Nave in Leeds.
Frontman Dan Popplewel says the following about the new music,
“We’ve always been a band that likes to mix it up and look to loads of different influences in the music we write. Since our inception (in 2021) we’ve been labelled New Wave, Baggy, 90s Revival and even (New) Nu-Rave! But our mantra has always been ‘let’s make people move’ and that won’t change just yet. So, we’re stacking with the ‘big-guitar groove’ but this time around we’re looking a little more in the direction of New York rather than Manchester, while borrowing slightly from our post-punk counterparts in some of the producton.“
“Neighbourhood itself is an angry assessment of society’s double standards and what we’ve let ourselves grow used to in the last 15 years or so. We’re asking for a change in attitude, and we think it reflects the mood of the nation right now, 100%.”
