Foals release third single ‘Into The Surf’ from their second album of 2019

Foals have previewed the October 18th release of ‘Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost – Part 2’ with two explosive tracks in the shape of ‘The Runner’ and ‘Black Bull’, both of which were picked as Annie Mac’s Hottest Record. Now they share the new track ‘Into The Surf’ on the back of last week’s dynamic performance at the Mercury Prize.
In contrast to the two tracks that preceded it, ‘Into The Surf’ captures a very different side to Foals. It’s a dreamy, ethereal soundscape which allows Yannis Philippakis’ haunting but elegant lyrics to soar.
“In ‘Into the Surf’ there’s this shadow of death, of someone not returning from a voyage,” he explained in an interview with DIY.
“There’s a type of Greek folk song that’s always to do with the immigration of Greek people and how dying on foreign shores is always viewed as the worst fate – to die far away from your home and your family.”

‘Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost – Part 2’ follows the album’s first chapter, which debuted at #2 on the Official Album Charts and earned a Mercury Prize nomination.
