Single Review: Taylor Liam Jackson – Broke Inside

BROKE INSIDE

Taylor Liam Jackson wears his heart on his sleeve, delivering songs that feel lived-in, honest and quietly confident. There’s a rawness to his writing that pulls you in straight away, no gimmicks, no over-polish, just proper storytelling backed by melodies that linger long after the final note.

He breaks the mould with ‘Broke Inside’. From its pacey, almost furious opening moments, it grabs you by the collar and refuses to let go. By the time Jackson’s voice kicks in, you’re already locked in and it quickly becomes clear this is him stepping into something bigger than we’ve heard before.

Drawing from indie and folk roots, Jackson strikes a balance between vulnerability and grit but ‘Broke Inside’ adds a new dimension to his sound, it’s bolder, more expansive and suits him down to the ground. The contrast between this and tracks like ‘Let Me Go’ shows an artist adding extra strings to his bow, proving there’s real depth to what he’s building. Eyes should very much be on Taylor Liam Jackson heading into 2026.

There’s also a maturity here that goes beyond his years. The phone call to his mum woven into the track is a simple but devastating touch, grounding the song in real emotion and underlining just how emotionally switched-on Jackson already is as a songwriter.

What really stands out though, is the authenticity. These songs feel like they’ve been written because they needed to be, not because they were chasing trends. There’s an understated confidence running throughout, suggesting an artist who knows exactly who he is and is happy letting the music do the talking.

I caught Taylor Liam Jackson at Y Not Festival last year, where he packed out a tent at dinner time, no easy slot and since that moment, he’s been firmly on the radar. If this is a sign of what’s to come, he’s laying the foundations for something genuinely special, with momentum very much on his side.
