The North release debut single ‘Soundtrack Your Soul’

Soundtrack Your Soul

3 piece Slacker-Indie outfit The North have released their debut single ‘Soundtrack Your Soul‘.

The song itself comments on some observations and realities of life in the mind of frontman Billy Memphis. ‘Soundtrack Your Soul‘ was born when Billy was sprinting for the train in Leeds station and seeing people of all different ages and cultures listening to music, soundtracking their lives and he found some sort of confidence in society that he had lacked for a big period of his life which was the initial spark of the song. However the song isn’t all sunshine and rainbows it tells a harsh truth “Uncertainty sprains you mind and at the time you don’t even realise” this came to Billy’s head when told by drummer Sian Keates the anxiousness she has felt due to being treated differently by venue owners and sound engineers whilst gigging being a female in a male dominated industry, but not knowing if it’s just her getting in her own head about it, when actually she has every right to feel disrespected. Musically The North have portrayed an “Indie banger” with infectious lead guitar and vocal lines as well as a Wunderhorse-esc drum beat.

The North have quickly become the most hyped group in Leeds. Their sound is a combination of pretty guitar lines, poetic lyricism based on the perspective of life in the modern age through the eyes and ears of songwriter Billy Memphis. Soniclly coming together in a sweaty practice room with the rest of the band. Having grabbed the attention of Leeds and social media so intensely the band sold out there debut UK tour. The band are growing a real buzz and have seen a decent amount of success in the short 6 months that they’ve been together, having supported Indie legends Sundara Karma on a date of their UK tour, to gaining over 100,000 views across Instagram Reels and Tiktok in the first week of their first release campaign for their debut Single ‘Soundtrack Your Soul’ organically.
