Single Review: VLURE – better Days

Better Days

Glasgow’s VLURE make a triumphant return with ‘Better Days’, their first new release since 2023’s ‘Heaven Sent‘ EP.

Better Days‘ is a euphoric, pulse-racing anthem, the track is a love letter to friendships, community, and the wild nights that define youth. The accompanying music video shot on New Year’s Eve by Emma Ross, perfectly encapsulates the track’s themes, delivering a raw and heartfelt visual counterpart.

Built around surging electronic beats and spoken-word intensity, ‘Better Days’ feels like a direct descendant of 90s rave icons such as Orbital, Underworld, and Faithless.

The track bridges nostalgic influences with modern innovations, injecting the DNA of acts like Nitzer Ebb, Front 242, and The Streets into VLURE’s signature high-energy sound.

Beyond their studio work, VLURE have earned a formidable reputation as a live act, with electrifying performances at The Great Escape, Pitchfork Paris, and Glastonbury’s Shangri-La. Their status was further cemented by a BBC Introducing Scotland Artist of the Year nomination and a win for Best Live Act at the 2023 Scottish Alternative Music Awards.

With a debut album set for release via Music For Nations later this year, ‘Better Days’ serves as a powerful statement of intent, one that proves VLURE are not just one of the UK’s most exciting acts, but one that continues to redefine the boundaries of electronic-infused post-punk.
