The Magic Gang share brand new video ‘Think’

The Magic Gang made a big impression with their self-titled debut album in 2018. Hailed as one of the best debuts of the year, it hit the charts at #12 and saw the youthful quartet earn nominations at the NME and Q Awards.
Now they’re making an exciting return with their brand new single ‘Think’. Its soaring horns and echoes of Northern Soul and The Style Council add a fresh flavour to their sound, but the energy, insistent hook and backing vocals are everything that fans have come to love from the band.
“It’s a cautionary tale,” says guitarist and vocalist Kris Smith.
“It’s about avoiding conflict and reminding yourself not to make things difficult at everyone’s expense.”
‘Think’ is the first taster of the band’s forthcoming second album, which was recorded in Atlanta with the Grammy-winner producer Ben H. Allen (Deerhunter, Animal Collective, Gnarls Barkley). As ‘Think’ suggests, their irrepressible live energy has broadened with a wider sonic palette of sounds. They’re also exploring new ground lyrically, having been inspired by the observational words of Lou Reed, Alex Turner and especially Jonathan Richman.
‘Think’ is accompanied by a video that was directed by Luke Farley. It sees the band, completed by Jack Kaye (guitar/vocals), Gus Taylor (bass/vocals) and Paeris Giles (drums) hanging out at the Moth Club, where a dancer’s infectious energy inspires them to get their groove on too.
The Magic Gang played select gigs in 2019 including some all-day parties in the UK and their debut North American gig. This March will see them play a huge tour as special guests to Blossoms, which culminates with a 20,000 capacity show at Manchester Arena. They’re also set to headline Courtyard Theatre as part of Annie Mac Presents AMP London on March 5th, followed by Hit The North and the Neighbourhood Weekender in May.
