THE DISCO NEVER ENDS

There’s something properly addictive about the way Good Health Good Wealth throw genres into a blender and somehow come out sounding tighter than most bands sticking to one lane.

New single ‘For Once In Our Lives’ is another massive step forward from the London pair, packing together hip-hop swagger, garage grooves and indie-alt chaos into a tune that feels built for both late-night city walks and sweaty festival fields.

This latest release sees frontman Bruce Breakey at his sharpest lyrically, there’s a proper grit running through the track as he paints a picture of modern London. Skint living, brutal rent prices, addiction on the streets and the ever-growing gap between those getting by and those barely surviving, instead of drowning in misery though Good Health Good Wealth do what they do best and that’s turning all that frustration into something weirdly uplifting. It’s reflective without feeling sorry for itself and that’s what gives it that punch.

Bruce’s vocal delivery sits somewhere between street poet and indie frontman having a breakdown outside the off licence at 2am and it works an absolute treat. One minute the track’s bouncing with garage-infused energy, the next it slows just enough to let the weight of the lyrics sink in. It’s clever without trying too hard, emotional without becoming cheesy and catchy enough to stick in your head for days.

It’s honest, chaotic, emotional and ridiculously danceable all at once. Exactly the kind of anthem that makes you want to sack off your job, book a festival ticket and disappear into the summer.

There’s also a bigger-picture feeling surrounding Good Health Good Wealth right now, with festival slots lined up at Y Not, Boomtown, Truck, Latitude  and Pitchfork Music Festival Paris, add to that support shows with The Streets, these gigs will be insane, two acts that perfectly complement eachother.

After years off graft this feels like a band properly gearing up for a breakthrough year. If ‘For Once In Our Lives’ is anything to go by, they’re more than ready for it too.

After the summer Good Health Good Wealth don’t plan on slowing down a bit, a few surprises are still to come and a winter tour dubbed The Disco Never Ends Tour which will see Your Mate’s Ex and BÆNCH both supporting which makes for a solid line up.
