Gold Intentions

Fresh from a support slot with The Fratellis, Hull indie pop quintet Fever are return with ‘Gold Intentions’, their first single of 2022 which is released on 14th via Blossoms’ label Very Clever Records.

After a very promising 2021 which saw the band complete their first headline tour of the UK, supporting Blossoms, and notch up several festival appearances and two monumental hometown sell out shows, the track sets the tone for another exciting year for the fast-rising Hull five-piece.

Lead singer James Harrod comments on the single:

I was inspired to write ‘Gold Intentions’ while watching the first scene of Pulp Fiction where Honey Bunny and Pumpkin hold up the restaurant. It led me to think about fugitive romances like Bonnie & Clyde. I decided I wanted to write a song about the internal love and conflict that I’d imagine would be felt while on the run with your other half.

The band have also announced a clutch of live shows for 2022 including an appearance at Great Escape Festival, with further dates TBA (see below for full listings).

Leading on from the success of previous band Fronteers, James Harrod (lead singer) formed Fever with childhood friends Joe Gray (drums) and Mitch Capes (guitar) in 2018. Sam Howell (keys) and Ellis Keogh (bass) joined in 2019 to complete the formidable line-up.

The latest cultural ambassadors flying the flag high for the city of Hull whose rich musical output impressing on an international stage currently includes the likes of Low Hummer, LIFE, Bdrmm, Slowdaze, Priestgate and Downtown Kayoto. Fever are proud local boys, born and bred.

Regularly drawing from real life experiences and local stories in their songwriting, Harrod and Capes are childhood friends whose shared love of guitar lessons saw them quickly bond and form a lasting friendship based on music. The rest of the band are journeymen of the local scene, who have formed the backbones and rhythm sections of various Hull bands over the years.

Fever’s last two singles, ‘Time Will Define’ and ‘My Imagination’, caught the attention of multiple editorial playlists, including Amazon Music’s Best New Bands, Apple Music’s Best in Rock and Best in Alternative and YouTube’s New in Alternative.
